Hybrid and electric vehicle batteries can be charged from a standard power outlet using an AC-DC converter system, or quickly charged outside the vehicle directly from a covered DC power source. The design challenges include protecting against overcurrent, overvoltage, and ESD, as well as controlling the input rectifier.
